Nominations for the Icelandic Literary Prize 2012
The nominations for the Icelandic Literary Prize were announced at the National Gallery of Iceland earlier this month. Ten titles are traditionally nominated for the prize each year, in the categories of fiction and non-fiction. The nominations for 2012 are as follows:
Fiction:
Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir: Undantekningin – de arte poetica (Eng. The Exception – de arte poetica). Publisher: Bjartur
Eiríkur Örn Norðdahl: Illska (Eng. Evil). Publisher: Mál og menning
Gyrðir Elíasson: Suðurglugginn (Eng. The South Window). Publisher: Uppheimar
Kristín Ómarsdóttir: Milla. Publisher: JPV
Sigurjón Magnússon: Endimörk heimsins (Eng. Limit of the World). Publisher: Ormstunga
Non-fiction:
Einar Már Jónsson: Örlagaborgin, brotabrot úr afrekssögu frjálshyggjunnar, fyrri hluti (Eng. Palace of the Fates, a fragment from the history of liberalism, part one). Publisher: Ormstunga
Gunnar F. Guðmundsson: Pater Jón Sveinsson – Nonni. Publisher: Opna
Gunnar Þór Bjarnason: Upp með fánann (Eng. Up with the flag). Publisher: Mál og menning
Jón Ólafsson: Appelsínur frá Abkasíu: Vera Hertzsch , Halldór Laxness og hreinsanirnar miklu (Eng. Oranges from Abkhazia: Vera Hertzsch, Halldór Laxness and The Great Purge). Publisher: JPV
Steinunn Kristjánsdóttir: Sagan af klaustrinu Skriðu (Eng. The history of the monastery at Skriða). Publisher: Sögufélag
The winners will be announced in late January or early February at Bessastaðir, the Presidential Residence. The President of Iceland hands out the prize.
