Nordic Council's Prizes 2013

The Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature Prize will be awarded for the first time in Oslo 30 October. Two Icelandic books are nominated – Skrímslaerjur by Áslaug Jónsdóttir, Kalli Güettler, and Rakel Helmsdal, and Ólíver by Birgitta Sif.

For the first time all the Nordic Council prizes will be announced and awarded at the same time in a new prize gala on 30 October in the Oslo Opera House. The announcement and awards of the Nordic Council prizes will be televised in all the Nordic countries on 30 October.

14 children's and young adult books are nominated for the brand new Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature PrizeTwo books from Iceland are nominated – Skrímslaerjur by Áslaug Jónsdóttir, Kalle Güettler and Rakel Helmsdal, and Ólíver by Birgitta Sif.

The Nordic Council Literature Prize will also be awarded at the same occasion, and this year two Icelandic novels are nominated – Valeyrarvalsinn by Guðmundur Andri Thorsson, and The Woman at 1000° by Hallgrímur Helgason.
