Nominations for the 2013 Icelandic Literary Prize

15 titles have been nominated for the 2013 Icelandic Literary Prize, in three categories. For the first time, there are nominations in the category of literature for children and young adults.

15 titles have been nominated for the 2013 Icelandic Literary Prize, in three categories. For the first time, there are nominations in the category of literature for children and young adults.

On Sunday, December 1, the nominations of 15 titles for the Icelandic Literary Prize were announced at the National Gallery of Iceland. There were nominations in three categories – fiction, nonfiction and literature for children and young adults, with 5 nominations in each category. This year marks the 25th that the prize is handed out. Below is a list of this year's nominated works in each category.

The winners of the 2012 Icelandic Literary Prize were Eiríkur Örn Norðdahl, for the novel Illska (or Evil) and Gunnar F. Guðmundsson for the biography Pater Jón Sveinsson – Nonni.  

This year's prize will be handed out at the end of January by the president of Iceland at Bessastaðir. The prize money is one million ISK for each category.

Nominations for the Icelandic Translators' Prize 2013


At the same occasion, a jury commissioned by the Icelandic Association of Translators and Interpreters also announced the following five nominations for the Icelandic Translators' Prize, which will be awarded by the president of Iceland at Gljúfrasteinn, former residence of Halldór Laxness, on April 23, 2014.
