Nominations for the 2014 Icelandic Literary Prize

15 titles have been nominated for the 2014 Icelandic Literary Prize, in three categories. In addition five titles are nominated for the Icelandic Translators' Prize 2014.

15 titles have been nominated for the 2014 Icelandic Literary Prize, in three categories. In addition five titles are nominated for the Icelandic Translators' Prize 2014.


On December 1, the nominations of 15 titles for the Icelandic Literary Prize were announced at the Kjarvalsstaðir - Reykjavík Art Museum. There were nominations in three categories – fiction, nonfiction and literature for children and young adults, with 5 nominations in each category. This year marks the 26th that the prize is handed out. Below is a list of this year's nominated works in each category.

The winners of the 2013 Icelandic Literary Prize were Sjón, for the novel Mánasteinn (Moonstone), Andri Snær Magnason for Tímakistan (Timecasket) and Guðbjörg Kristjánsdóttir for Íslenska teiknibókin (The Icelandic Model Book). This year's prize will be handed out at the end of January by the president of Iceland at Bessastaðir. The prize money is one million ISK for each category.

Nominations for the Icelandic Translators' Prize 2014

At the same occasion, a jury commissioned by the Icelandic Association of Translators and Interpreters also announced the following five nominations for the Icelandic Translators' Prize 2014 which will be awarded by the president of Iceland at Gljúfrasteinn, former residence of Halldór Laxness, on April 23, 2015.
