The prize is handed out in three categories: fiction/poetry, books for children and young adults, and non-fiction.

Nominations for the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize 2015 were announced in at the Reykjavík City Library in December. The prize, awarded annually since 2007, was established by women within the Icelandic Writers' Union and The Association of Non-Fiction and Educational Writers in Iceland, as an encouragement for Icelandic women writers. The prize is handed out in three categories: fiction/poetry, books for children and young adults, and non-fiction.
