Nominations for Women's Literature Prize announced

On February 27, the nominations for Fjöruverðlaunin, the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize, were announced at the Reykjavík City Library. Three titles were nominated for each of the prize's three categories:
Fiction/poetry:
The poetry book Blóðhófnir (Bloodhoof) by Gerður Kristný, who received the 2010 Icelandic Literary Prize for the work.
Síðdegi (Afternoon), a poetry book by Vilborg Dagbjartsdóttir.
Kristín Steinsdóttir's novel Ljósa(The Bird's Shadow, due to be published in Germany with C. H. Beck), which recently received the DV Culture Prize.
Non-fiction:
Konan sem fékk spjót í höfuðið: Flækjur og furðuheimar vettvangsrannsókna (The Lady who was Hit in the Head with a Spear: The Complications of On-Site Research) by Kristín Loftsdóttir.
Tónlist í leikskóla: Það verður hverjum list sem hann leikur(Music in Kindergartens) by Sigríður Loftsdóttir
Þóra biskups og raunir íslenskra embættismannastéttar (Þóra, Daughter of the Bishop, and the Misfortunes of Icelandic Officials) by Sigrún Pálsdóttir, who was also nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize for the book.
Children's books:
Íslensk barnaorðabók (The Icelandic Children's Dictionary), compiled by Ingrid Markan, Laufey Leifsdóttir and Anna Cynthia Leplar.
Skrímsli á toppnum (Monsters at the Top) by Áslaug Jónsdóttir, Rakel Helmsdal and Kalle Güettler, published simultaneously in Icelandic, Swedish and Faeroese.
Þankaganga Myślobieg, a Polish-Icelandic book by Vala Þórsdóttir and Agnieszka Nowak.
The prize will be awarded on March 20.
