Nominations for the 2016 Icelandic Literary Prize

15 titles have been nominated for the 2016 Icelandic Literary Prize, in three categories

On December 1st, the nominations of 15 titles for the Icelandic Literary Prize were announced at the Kjarvalsstaðir - Reykjavík Art Museum. There were nominations in three categories – fiction, nonfiction and literature for children and young adults, with 5 nominations in each category.

There were nominations in three categories – fiction, nonfiction and literature for children and young adults, with 5 nominations in each category. This is the 28th year that the prize is handed out. Below is a list of this year's nominated works in each category.

The winners of the 2015 Icelandic Literary Prize were Einar Már Guðmundsson, for the novel Hundadagar (Dogdays), Gunnar Helgason for Mamma klikk! (My crazy mom!) and Gunnar Þór Bjarnason for Þegar siðmenningin fór fjandans til . 

This year's prize will be handed out in January/February by the president of Iceland at his residency, Bessastaðir. The prize is one million ISK for each category.
