In the first allocation of the year 2024, 37 applications were received for translation into Icelandic. 27 grants in the amount of 8.8 million were awarded. ISK The second distribution of the year takes place in November.

Atef Abu Saif, R.F. Kuang, Shelby Van Pelt, Aldulrazak Gurnah, Alice Oseman, Gabriel García Marquez, Kathryn Hughes, and J.R.R. Tolkien are among the authors to be translated.

Grants for translation into Icelandic are awarded to translate important contemporary works, foreign fiction and academic publications. Grants are also awarded for translated high-quality, picture-rich books for children and young people.

In this first allocation of the year, 27 grants were awarded, of which 4 illustrated books for children and young people.

These are works both contemporary works and classic world literature. It is translated from English, French, Hungarian, German, Spanish and ancient Greek, and the translators include Ingunn Snædal, Jón Hallur Stefánsson, Þórhildur Ólafsdóttir, Bjarni Jónsson and Helga Soffía Einarsdóttir.
