NordLit, the Nordic Literary Organisations' annual meeting held online 13-14 January

Each January, employees of the Nordic Literary Centers convene in one of the countries capitals in rotation. Now it was Denmark's turn, but due to the pandemic the meeting was online.

NordLit annual meeting was held 13-14 January. The Danish literary center organized the meeting this year which was online due to the pandemic.

NordLit is a network of Nordic Literary Centers collaborating closely to boost visibility and distribution of Nordic literature in various ways. It is important for the Nordic colleagues to discuss literary support, joint events and future collaboration.

Each January, employees of the Nordic Literary Centers convene in one of the countries capitals in rotation.

Who are the Members of NordLit?

In addition to the Icelandic Literature Center the following centers are part of the network; Norla in Norway, Fili in Finland, FarLit in the Faroese Islands, Swedish Arts Council - Literature Exchange in Sweden, The Danish Arts Council in Denmark, Greenlit in Greenland and Samisk Kunstnerråd in Samiland.

Organized by the Danes

Twenty-four employees and administrators from seven literary centers participated in the seminar. The meetings were held online and touched on various issues regarding the centers' work, participants exchanging ideas and working together on finding ways to enhance and strengthen operations and promotion of Nordic literature in general context.

Several guests were invited to the meeting; a British publisher and a Danish agent, as well as representatives of the Gothenburg Book Fair. They described the impact of the pandemic on their work, when no book fairs are held in the real world - and shared various other paths taken and many innovations that might become permanent, in their opinion. A representative of the Nordic Council of Ministers was also invited to the meeting for discussion about the Nordic literary grants.

Among collaborative projects in NordLit is the collective Nordic pavilion at the London and Bologna book fairs. NordLit also organizes various cooperative projects, translation seminars, publishers' exchanges, staff exchanges, publishing of anthologies, Nordic grants and more.
