Icelandic Literature Center recently allocated 54 grants to foreign publishers to publish Icelandic literature in translations. The application deadline is twice a year, in February and September.

Five works are expected in the coming months in English translations: Fjarvera þín er myrkur by Jón Kalman Stefánsson, Sykur by Katrín Júlíusdóttur, Sögur og ljóð by Ásta Sigurðardóttir, Launsátur by Jónína Leósdóttir and Myrkrið milli stjarnanna by Hildur Knútsdóttir.

Two grants were handed to Brazilian publishers, Merking by Fríða Ísberg, translated by Luciano Dutra and Mánasteinn by Sjón, translated by Pedro Monfort.

Many children's books are among the works that received grants, most of them will be published in the Nordic countries. Faroese translator Þóra Þóroddsdóttir translates a trilogy of books by Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir. Sara Lindberg translated two books by Ævar Þór Benediktson into Swedish and three books about Fíasól are expected in Norwegian, translated by Barbro E. Lundberg.
