52 Translation grants from Icelandic into foreign languages allocated

Icelandic Literature Center recently allocated 52 grants to foreign publishers to publish Icelandic literature in translations. The application deadline is twice a year, in February and September.

Among works that will be translated are Sextíu kíló af sunnudögum by Hallgrímur Helgason, DJ Bambi by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir, Sögur & Ljóð by Ásta Sigurðardóttir and Vigdís: Bókin um fyrsta konuforsetann by Rán Flygenring

Foreign publishers who are interested in publishing Icelandic literature can apply for translation grants from Icelandic Literature Center. The deadline is twice a year, in February and September.

Icelandic literature are expected to be published in 15 languages in the coming months, f.ex in Spanish, English, Italian, Polish, Hungarian, Dutch, French, Croatian and Danish.

Among the works which will be translated are Aðferðir til að lifa af by Kristín Eiríksdóttir to be published in Turkey, Delluferðin by Sigrúnun Pálsdóttur in Greece and Dyngja by the same author will be translated into English by Lytton Smith.

Also Gyrðir Elíasson's latest poetry books, Dulstirni and Meðan glerið sefur are to be published in The Faroe Islands, translated by Martin Næs, Sögur og ljóð by Ásta Sigurðardóttir first published in 1985 in Danish, translator Susanne Torpe and Aðventa by Gunnars Gunnarsson will be published in Sweden, translated by Ingrid Kampås.
