It includes Icelandic titles from last year, selected by the Center's literary advisers; fiction, non-fiction and literature for children and young adults, new Icelandic crime fiction, a list of titles recently sold abroad and an overview of Icelandic literary awards and nominations in 2020.

Icelandic Literature Center promotes Icelandic literature abroad

The role of the Icelandic Literature Center is to raise awareness and support the publication of Icelandic literature, both in Iceland and abroad, and to enable its distribution through translation and travel grants. Books from Iceland is published for promotion at book fairs in London, Frankfurt, Gothenburg and other literary events abroad. In view of the present global situation, as conventional means of promoting books, such as literary festivals and book fairs, tours by authors, public readings, etc. have not been possible, digital distribution is in focus.

Diverse measures applied

In response to the situation the Icelandic Literature Center has applied a range of measures to promote Icelandic books and their authors internationally. These include, for instance, videos of Icelandic writers in English and French, made in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Icelandic embassies, Promote Iceland and other bodies, the new Authors'Page on the Center's website, and the above-mentioned Nordic translation initiative.
