Icelandic authors discuss Icelandic literature – en français!
Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir, Hallgrímur Helgason, Oddný Eir Ævarsdóttir and Sverrir Norland, all of whom speak French, appear in the video.
A new video has now been released, in French, which is intended for promotion and mediation in francophone regions. Authors Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir, Hallgrímur Helgason, Oddný Eir Ævarsdóttir and Sverrir Norland, all of whom speak French, appear in the video.
Icelandic literature has enjoyed great success in recent years in French-speaking regions: many books have been published each year in French translation, and Icelandic authors have repeatedly received awards there for their work. Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir, for instance, was awarded the Prix Médicis étranger for her novel Ungfrú Ísland (Miss Iceland), translated into French by Eric Boury.
The Icelandic Literature Center has, in collaboration with Promote Iceland, the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others, produced videos in which Icelandic authors provide a perspective on their inner worlds, with the objective of bringing them closer to their readership, and at the same time of reflecting the society from which their works have emerged.
The video is produced by Republik and directed by Lárus Jónsson.
The video is a collaborative project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Icelandic embassies in Paris and Brussels, Promote Iceland and the Icelandic Literature Center.
