A year has passed since Iceland appeared as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Each year, the book fair highlights the literature of one country or language area, and this year the mantle will be worn by New Zealand. in 2013 it will be Brazil's turn, and Finland will follow in 2014.
This year's book fair goes on October 10-14, and Icelandic publishers will share an exhibitor's stand in Hall 5.0 A933. The stand will reference the cozy, living room atmosphere of the Icelandic Guest of Honour pavilion in 2011. We cordially invite you to visit us and enjoy the atmosphere.
Iceland will also make an appearance in New Zealand's presentation. On Wednesday at 16:00, the poet and playwright Sigtryggur Magnason will take part in a discussion with Bill Manhire, one of New Zealand's principal poets. The discussion, titled “New Zealand – Iceland with trees?” will revolve around the stories of the two countries, and how the Guest of Honour appearance can help disseminate these to a wider audience. Thomas Böhm, former member of the Sagenhaftes Island team, will moderate the discussion.
