Páll Stefánsson was born on the farm Skinnastaðir in Öxafjarðarhreppur in Northeast Iceland in 1958. He graduated from the Sven Winquist Photography School in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1982 and then became a staff photographer for the magazine Iceland Review, of which he is now the editor.
