Nanna Rögnvaldardóttir nominated for the Gourmand Prize

The cookbook Maturinn hennar Nönnu (Nanna's Food) has been nominated for one of the world's most highly regarded prizes in Wine and Cookery writing.

Maturinn hennar NönnuNanna's book, Maturinn hennar Nönnu has been nominated in two categories in the highly regarded Gourmand World Cookbook prize as the “Best Innovative Food Book” and “Best Cookbook Illustrations” in 2009.

The prize has been awarded for fourteen years and is considered a great honour. It's aim is, among other things, to help readers choose between the 26,000 titles that are published about food and wine every year and to increase their knowledge and respect for food and wine culture.

This is the second time a book by an Icelandic author has been nominated for this prize. Delicious Iceland by the chef Völundur Snær Völundarson gained a special honorary prize in 2007. Last year just over 6000 books from 107 countries were sent in and this year 136 countries in all are taking part in the competition.
