Due to summer vacations, the Icelandic Literature Center's office will be closed from 5th July to 3rd August. 

Grassroots Grants are awarded annually to emerging writers in order to support and encourage them on their path.

In our new edition of Books from Iceland you'll find selected titles in different genres, a list of titles sold abroad, an overview of Icelandic literary awards and nominations in 2020 & information about our grants.

Icelandic literature remains as popular as ever internationally, despite the pandemic. A Nordic translation initiative, and new approaches to promotion of books and authors abroad, have yielded good results.

Works of Icelandic literature and their authors have received a range of prizes and awards in the past year. All published Icelandic books of the previous year in the relevant field are eligible.

To cut a long story short, the authors' visits have proved a resounding success, and there is general satisfaction among all involved: teachers, students and the authors themselves.

Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir and Andri Snær Magnason are nominated, on behalf of Iceland, for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2021.

The prize was awarded in three categories and the winners are Elísabet Kristín Jökulsdóttir, Arndís Þórarinsdóttir, Hulda Sigrún Bjarnadóttir & Sumarliði R. Ísleifsson.
